  3. Phone leaders no earlier than 9 am and no later than 6 pm.
  4. To cancel after signing up, call or email the leader at least the day before the hike.
  5. Note that some hikes have a maximum participant limit and that there are varying time deadlines for signing up.
  6. If you are a passenger carpooling to a trailhead, please pay the driver 10 cents per mile to cover gas, etc.
  7. HIKING BOOTS WITH GOOD TREAD AND ADEQUATE DRINKING WATER ARE REQUIRED.
Hats and sunscreen are strongly recommended.
CAREFULLY REVIEW THE TEN ESSENTIALS    |   Thank you and Happy Hiking.  ►

  • Moderate hikes = (0 - 500 feet, 4-7 miles)
  • Strenuous hikes = (500 – 1,800 feet, 6 – 10 miles)
  • Extremely Difficult: = More than 1800 ft. of elevation gain and more than 10 miles in length.

The above are general guidelines.  A hike leader may deviate when, for example, a hike has difficult footing or involves climbing boulders.

NOAH PURIFOY OUTDOOR DESERT ART MUSEUM:  Joshua Tree

"Noah Purifoy's Outdoor Desert Art Museum consists of 7.5 acres of open land displaying Purifoy's assemblage sculptures, created between 1989 and 2004.  The works themselves are great - as is the decay due to the harsh elements of their desert setting.  Resisting the ideologies of institutionalized art, Purifoy proposed to find out what role nature could play in the history of an art piece, arguing that 'changes are an integral part of life itself'."  We will bring our cameras and photograph the patterns and designs in this outdoor museum 'in nature'.  All MEMBERS of the CVHC are welcome.

Details about meeting place and carpooling when you call to sign up. We'll have lunch in Joshua Tree and discuss the museum.
